Subject: [Fanfic] Dark Awakening Date: Tue, 13 Jun 2000 00:37:46 +1200 From: Spyda Newsgroups: alt.startrek.vs.starwars Dark Awakening, part I He collapsed into the metal wall. With blaster in hand and heart beating out of his chest he held his weapon, ready to fire. Sweat poured from his brow. His tattered black jacket swung with him as he ran down the corridor. His mind burned with thought. Who was he? And how did he get here? Two men in white body armor appeared down the corridor. "There he is! Blast him!" The man in the black clothes didn't give the situation any more thought. By the time the trooper in charge gave the order he'd already fired his weapon. The two troopers collapsed, blood dripped from their torsos. He ran further down the corridor. He heard a voice from within the walls, "All troops, this is Lieutenant Hit-Man. The prisoner has escaped. Shoot on sight." Only one thought entered the man's mind, run. The corridor seemed endless. He passed bulkhead after bulkhead. White lights ran up the walls providing the corridor with a bright illumination. More of the men in white appeared behind him. Blasts screamed in his direction. He ducked behind a bulkhead. He held his blaster with the barrel facing up. Another blast hit the bulkhead, the loud scream of the bolt penetrating deep into the man's ears. He gritted his teeth and fired into the group of troopers. Quickly he resumed his position behind the bulkhead as more blasts screamed by. "Give it up! Your surrounded!" He ignored the trooper's command and brushed more sweat away from his brow. He could see a doorway behind him. From his position behind the bulkhead he fired into the opposite wall, knowing full well that he'd miss the troopers. But sure enough the troopers instinctively backed off to avoid the blast and returned fire. Blast after blast screamed by, narrowly missing him. Smoke was rising from the impact points, a typical occurrence in a fire fight. The man fired a few more shots at the opposite wall, but made them just close enough to the troopers to cause them to react. They returned fire and more smoke rose. He came out from behind the bulkhead and fired at the troopers. But this time he hid behind the bulkhead on the opposite side of the smoke filled corridor. The troopers returned fire at his original position. Blast after blast screamed by, striking the surroundings. With all the firing, the view was now completely obscured by smoke. The man came out behind the bulkhead and fired at the troopers, killing one. "He's over there!" He ran to the end of the corridor and through the door. He found himself in some kind of shuttle bay. Seeing an unfamiliar looking ship parked on the deck he ran to it. Blaster fire boomed behind him. The troopers were right behind him. He ran up the ramp ducking to avoid their fire. A man in uniform was at the controls, performing a pre flight check. "Close the ramp!" The man turned around to find the barrel of a blaster pointed at him. "Close it NOW!" "Y. . .yes." The man closed the ramp just before the troopers reached it. "Take off. Go!" "Look, I. . . I don't know what's going on. . . I just transferred. . ." "I SAID GO!" "Alright." The shuttle gently lifted off the ground as wings lowered into flight position. "Does that one make this thing go faster?" "Yes, but. . ." The man in black pushed the lever forward and the shuttle took off at full speed into space. "Ahh! We're not supposed to go this fast out of the docking port!" The man pressed the blaster to the pilots temple. "You'll do what I tell you to do! What the hell is that?" The man looked out the window to see the ship that the small shuttle just left. From what he could tell it was some kind of warship. But nothing like anything he'd seen before. Or at least, nothing like he remembers. It was over a kilometer long and was triangular in shape. "They're shooting at us!" Green bolts of plasma shot out from the gargantuan ship. One of them hit the shuttle, pushing it slightly off course. The man pressed the blaster more firmly into the side of the pilots head. "Get us out of here. Head for an outer system." "You mean the outer rim?" "Whatever! Just go!" "A. . .alright." The man sat in the seat next to the pilot. "Jumping to hyperspace. . .now." "What?" The stars became streaks as the shuttle was suddenly pulled from existence. The shuttle lurched forward and was gone. Back on the deck of the ship the troopers were about to return to their stations when their commander arrived on deck. "Lieutenant Hit-man, he got away in a Lambda-class shuttle, he was too fast." The second in charge reported to a very unimpressed lieutenant. "You allowed a semi conscious, amnesia ridden prisoner to escape?" "He wasn't semi con. . ." "He had no idea where he was or who he is. Or for that matter who we were or what he was dealing with. You SUPPOSEDLY had complete tactical superiority and superior numbers at your disposal, and somehow you still managed to let one pathetic little man escape." "Sir he was hardly pathetic, he. . ." "No you're right. Compared to you he had skills comparable to the Sith. Compared to anyone else he would have had the skills of an amnesiac. Which is what he was!" "Sir, I. . ." "Enough!" Lt Hit-man drew his E-11 and blew the Storm Troopers head off. He glared at the other troopers. "If I see anymore pathetic displays of this magnitude again then I guaranty. . . the results will not be as pleasant as this. Get this mess cleaned up." "YES SIR!" "What the hell is going on!?" "W. . .we're in hyperspace. . .don't they have hyperspace where come from?" "No. At least I don't think so." "Um, they are probably going to think that I helped. . ." "Just fly the damn ship." "Yes. . .um. . .where exactly are we going?" "I'm not sure. Alpha Centuri. . .I think I was supposed to go to Alpha Centuri." "W. . .where is that?" "I want to see a star map." "O. . .okay. . j. .just hang on a minute. D. . do you think that maybe you c. .could put the blaster down now?" "Oh I'm sorry, am I making you nervous?" "Y. . .yes." "Then I'm not putting the blaster down. Bring up the dam map!" The pilot plugs in a few commands into the console and a map appears on a screen just above the control board. "Pan out." The map pans out to reveal two thirds of the galaxy. "I. . .where am I?" The pilot seeing his moment reaches for a concealed blaster at his side. "Hey!" The man in black grabs the pilots arm as he struggled to bring the weapon to his kidnappers head. The man struggled back and fired a shot from his own blaster and the pilot fell to the floor, blood leaking from his abdomen. "Why is this happening to me?" The man sat back in his chair and gazed out into the hyperspace tunnel. Watching the pilot operate the controls revealed that they were fairly simplistic. He recognized the lever that the pilot pulled to put them into hyperspace. He pulled the lever down and the stars returned. But as he looked out at the stars he didn't see anything that he recognized. He was in the middle of nowhere. Stars in all directions, but nothing he recognized as a constellation. The reality of his situation soon caught up with him. He was in an alien ship in the middle of an uncharted area of space. He had just been inside some kind of capital ship where people were trying to kill him for no apparent reason other than that he had escaped. But escaped from what? How did he get there in the first place? Why was he there? And above all else, who was he? He glanced down at the unfamiliar symbols on the controls. Some of the symbols appeared to be pictorial rather than language. He prodded at the controls and after a few minutes of trial and error was able to bring up a voice prompt from the ship's computer. "Course plotted. Tatooine selected. Estimated travel duration, three hours, fifty seven minutes." The man sighs heavily and reaches for the lever. "Tatooine huh? Maybe I'll get lucky and find someone who knows what's going on. Well. . . here goes nothing. . ." Dark Awakening, part 2. The ramp opened and the man walked out of the Lambda-class shuttle. "Hey you!" Unfortunately his chosen destination was not one where he was likely to escape from the people that were trying to kill him. Two more of the men in white were waiting on the dusty Tatooine landing pad. He stood dead in his tracks looking into the black eye pieces of the troopers standing in front of him. They'd caught up with him and there was no way he was getting out of this, these people were everywhere. "This shuttle's transmitting an Imperial IFF code. Where did you get it?" "I. . .picked it up. . .just outside the. . .uh. . ." "Check the registry." One trooper said to the other as the other one entered the ship. The man in black wondered why he was still breathing. They had him right there with their weapons at their sides and they had not opened fire. In fact why were they keeping their weapons at their sides? They should be pointed at him. The other trooper emerged from the ramp. "Check, TS89 dash 23." The other one pulled forward some kind of instrument and keyed in the code number. "It says that this thing was sold to the Qui-Taia scrap yards." "Err, yeah. . .that's where I picked it up." "His flight log says he was heading out form that area." "Let me see your identification." "I. . .don't have any. I'm from the uh. . ." "No ID?" "Great, looks like we have to take him in." "Well, that is to say. . . I don't have any yet, I'm new in this part of space." "So, where are you from?" "Well, it's out in the. . .the. . . err. . ." "Eron system?" "Yeah that." "Great, now we've got to take this guy down to the registry office." "We don't have time for this bantha shit. Look, whoever you are, get down to the registry office and sign in there." "I. . .will, thanks for your time. . ." "Wait a minute." The trooper produces a small handheld device. He flicks a button and a hologram of a man wearing a black jacket similar to the one the man in black was wearing. "We think this man may be with the Rebellion. If you see him, be sure to let us know." "Don't let us catch you here again without ID." "Okay." The troopers returned to their post as the man walked away. He had no idea where the registry office or what to do once he got there. Around the corner from the landing site, he found himself confronted with an alien town. Not just the town itself but it's occupants too. Aliens of all descriptions wondered the streets going about their various tasks. None of them seemed to notice the bewildered looking man watching them. For a moment he thought one of his memories had returned. But all that came was a single thought. Aliens don't look like this. He wondered the streets for a few minutes. He could see various creatures talking to each other and sometimes exchanging things while they thought nobody else was looking. Domesticated beasts carried even more strange looking creatures through the main street. A few hovering vehicles drove by. He wasn't getting anywhere. He still had no idea who he was, why he was there, or how he got there. He decided that the only way he'd ever find out was to ask someone. But who? Was he just going to walk up to someone and say 'Excuse me, could you tell me the way home?'. He didn't even know where home was. After about an hour of wondering the streets he eventually found what was apparently some kind of bar. He entered to find himself in a dimly lit Cantina. Even though he'd seen some weird looking creatures in the street, it was in here that the real ugly ones were hanging out. As he approached the bar he noticed that although he couldn't read any of the writing on the walls he could understand what some of the aliens were saying. But only some of them. He sat at one of the tables. "Hey it's you!" "Me?" A man came and sat at the table. "Yeah. You're the guy I saw getting off the shuttle earlier." "Yeah, that's me. Hey wait a minute, aren't you the guy that those other guys are after?" "Maybe. Anyway, a friend of yours gave me something to give to you." "And you are?" "Someone who's on his way out, here take this. . ." He places a small package in a metal box on the table. The man in black grabs it and slides it into his jacket pocket. "Wait a minute? Who gave you this?" "I don't know his name, I'm just the messenger." "How did you find me here?" The other man ignored the question and left the table. "Hey! Who are you?" The man walked out of the room while the other one followed. "I'm talking too. . ." He turned the corner into the ally to follow the other man, but he was gone. "What the hell is going on?" Just then the metal box in his jacket beeped. The man pulled the box out and opened it. Just as he did an image of himself appeared right in front of him. It was like the hologram of the other man that the troopers showed him. Only that it was a crystal clear replication of himself. "You're . . .me?" "Hardly." "So you're a hologram?" "I know what you're thinking. It's the old "Man records hologram incase of memory loss, then man looses memory, then hologram tells man what's going on" trick. "The what?" "Never mind. I've been told a few things that you probably need to know. Number one, your name is Curtis Freemen." "Freemen?" "Number two, you're in the wrong galaxy." "What?" "Number three. . ." "Wrong galaxy?" "Let me finish Curtis, not only is it bad to talk to yourself but it's rude to interrupt! Number three, you're in the wrong time period." "Eh?" "And last but not least, you need to get to the Furinax system. Any questions?" "Yes, explain number two and three." "Wrong galaxy, wrong time period." "I see. . . how?" "I don't know." "How could you not know? Aren't you me?" "Not really. I only know what you've told me, apparently there's a more detailed version waiting for you at Furinax." "So there's nothing else then?" "Well, there's a universal translator implanted in your ear. It doesn't seem to work on species that's brains are too unlike our own." "I see, well you've been, somewhat helpful. . .I guess. So how do I get to Furinax?" "There's some money in the box. Should be enough to get a small ship. Or you could hire one but I wouldn't recommend that." "I already have a ship." "The one you escaped your captors in? They'll be looking for that one." "Right. What else is in the box?" "A personal transporter." "Matter. . .transportation. Yes, I remember now. Transporters were used everyday by. . .I can't remember." "It will return in time. In the meantime, you need to get to Furinax or bad things are going to happen." "What kind of bad things?" "I don't know exactly. Times up, I have to go." "Wait. . ." The hologram disappeared. "Curtis Freemen," Freemen said to himself, "well at least I have a name now." "There he is!" Freemen swung around, two men dressed in black were approaching. In their hands were black, pistol grip objects. The pointed them at Freemen and opened fire. Blue energy bolts screamed forth. Freemen ducked back in the ally and drew his blaster. He returned fire. The red blaster bolts struck close to their target. The two men fired again. Part of the wall collapsed, kicking up a dust cloud. "Give it up Freemen! There's no way out!" Freemen ran back to the Cantina door, locked. He immediately turned around as one of the figures entered the ally. Freemen fired and the man backed off. Some more of the mesa became dislodged and crumbled to the ground. A pile of rubble now lay between freemen and his attackers. "You didn't think you'd get passed us did you Freemen? It didn't take long to find you. Your getting sloppy." "Oh yeah, why don't you come over hear and say that?" "I plan to. And I will, just hold still and take it like a man!" "Screw you!" Freeman fired over the pile of rubble. The two of them fired back. Freemen grabbed the metal box and pulled out a small device. "I hope this works. . ." "What was that Freemen? Can't hear you over the sound of your own imminent death." "Ha!" "Do you two always laugh at your own jokes?" "It takes a special class of wit Freemen!" The two men fired over the rubble. But nothing fired back. "Now a grenade would be ideal in this situation." "We need a body for analysis. Just shoot out the rubble." The two of them blasted away at the rubble. But once they blasted through, Freemen was nowhere to be seen. "Do you think we vaporized him?" "With disrupters? You are such an idiot." "True, but you're the one they're going to string up when they find out that we let him get away." "I didn't let him do anything. In fact, we don't have EXACT confirmation that that was him now do we?" "No, you're quite right. I wonder where this mess came from?" "Ha!" The man taps his chest. "Two to beam out." Dark Awakening, Part 3 "Personal log, date. . .fuck knows. Location, well I don't know that either, somewhere between Tatooine and Furinax, wherever the hell they are. I found this log in the metal box given to me by the man on Tatooine. Unfortunately the previous entries are protected by a password. A password that I probably know. A few things have come back to me. I remember warp travel, and transporters. This ship, this 'Firespray' is a strange one indeed. The controls are fairly simple, as I requested from the ship dealer. He was very eager to trade with the other one I brought plus some of the money that was in the box. I'm beginning to think that I might have got a raw deal. But none of that matters now. In a few minutes I'll be pulling out of. . .hyperspace near the Furinax system. I don't know what I'm supposed to find once I get there, but I hope it's a way out of this mess. Those men that tried to kill me on Tatooine, they knew my name. Back on that ship those soldiers just referred to me as 'The Prisoner'. Which brings me to another question, why wasn't the shuttle registered as theirs? I can only hope that the answers lie on Furinax. Because this is really starting to piss me off. End log entry." Meanwhile on Tatooine, Storm Troopers pointed their weapons at a local ship dealer in one of the space ports. "I'll ask one more time. Where did you get that shuttle?" "I tell you three times! It come from private trader. I don't know where he get Lambda-class shuttle." "What did he look like?" "Tall, thin, wearing black. Clothes were ragged. Like a smuggler." "You sold a Firespray to a man that looked like a smuggler?" The creature started to sweat. The blaster pointed at his head tipped the power in the conversation towards the side of the storm troopers holding him there. "He pay a high price for it. I guessing he too stupid to be a smuggler. He pay eight thousand plus shuttle." "Where was he heading?" "I tell you! I don't know!" "You didn't think that it was somewhat odd that he was getting rid of a lambda class shuttle in favor of an old Firespray?" "I was getting good deal. Not done to question deals like that." Just then another trooper entered the room. "Sir, he says that he got the shuttle from a smuggler. He doesn't know where was heading." "Scour the area. Find out if anybody has seen or knows anything." "Yes sir!" The trooper takes a com-link from off his utility belt. "This Lieutenant Hit-Man. There's no sign of the objective. We think he's already jumped off world. . . .Understood, I'll keep you informed. Hit-Man out." Light-years away in the Furinax system, a small craft lowers to the surface of a cold, wet planet. Thunder and lightning filled the grey skies while non stop rain poured down from the skies. The rain pounded against the roof of a small compound on the surface of the planet. Curtis Freemen emerged from the craft, soaked by the relentless storm. He walked over to the shelter of the building. As he approached, he heard a familiar voice. "Good to see you made it Freemen." "You again? You were on Tatooine. So you're not just the messenger after all." "I'll explain everything inside. Let's go." A door slides open and the pair enter the building. People of varying descriptions wandered through the main corridor as the two made their way to the room at the end. "Wait a minute." "Yeah?" "Look man, first tell me what this is all about." "It'll all be clear soon. Just relax." "I've been finding it a little hard to relax lately. No-one has tried to kill me in the past six hours and. . ." "I know what you mean. But in our line of work you should be used to it." "Line of work? What is it exactly the WE do?" "Look at it this way. You were able to escape from an enemy ship that had a full compliment of Storm Troopers onboard. You think that was pure luck?" "I'm a soldier?" "Not quite. Look, it's just through here." "What is?" The door opened, revealing a room with a table in the middle and a strange looking device overhead. A woman stood by a control panel. "Ah, Curtis. Right on time." "Lie down." "What's going on?" "Your amnesia was no accident. It would be too much to explain all at once. But we can restore your memory." "Well, I don't see what I have to loose. All right, I'll do it." Freemen lies down on the table. He noticed that the device was pointed at his forehead. "Let's begin." Said the woman as she keyed in the commands on the control panel. "Arrrgh!" A beam of light struck Curtis in the head. Gradually his memories began to return. He closed his eyes and the images began to flood back into his mind. He lapsed into a state of semi consciousness as he heard his own thoughts echo through his mind. "Von Lowe. . ." "That's it Freemen. Try to remember." "Kenneth Von Lowe. . . Section 31. . .The warships. . ." "You're getting there Freemen." "The dimensional relocation transport system. Now. . .I remember." "What do you remember?" "Section 31. . .They were experimenting with a new dimensional relocation technology. They opened a permanent link across space and time. . .new technologies. . .new designs." "Yes." "They had designed a new type of ship. . .The Predator-class gunship. . . Four hundred meters long, and only required one pilot, the rest of the ship. . .automated. But it lacked a power plant capable of producing the output they needed. Then they found this place. . .The rebels. . .They pleaded with Section 31 for help to defeat the Empire. . .They thought their message would get back to Starfleet. . .Section 31 wants them to supply plans for the hyper matter reactor. . .They want to use it to power industrial replicators. . .They output could create a thousand ships. . .A scaled down version of the reactor would power their weapons. . .They want to use the new ships to clamp down on the Alpha quadrant. . .then the galaxy. . .then this galaxy. . .The Imperials would respond. . .War would follow. . .All governments would be pulled into the struggle. . .They'd be forced to use the new technology. . .The following war. . .would result in the total annihilation of both galaxies. . .All sentient life would be wiped from the cosmos." "Excellent. You remember how it started. Do you remember anything else?" "Kenneth Von Lowe. . .he is running Section 31. . .He is going to try to run the Federation. . ." "And now you're here." "Warn the rebels. . .do not send the plans to Section 31. . .Things went wrong. . .I was captured. . .They erased my memory. . .and dumped me where the Imperials could find me. The Imperials. . . . . . . . . . . . They know about the link. They know that it is transmitting matter from our galaxy. . .Matters are worse now. . .have to warn rebels about Section 31. . .Must prevent Imperials from recovering dimensional technology from Section 31. I remember. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .everything." "That's enough, he remembers it all now. Welcome back." The woman shuts off the beam and Freemen sits up straight. "Spyda! I remember everything. We intercepted Von Lowe's plot during while we were on assignment." "They say that the life of a mercenary holds many surprises." "Well now that I've had my little vacation, what do you say we get back to business." "Sounds good to me Freemen. Any ideas on our next move?" "I have still yet to complete my main objective. I still have to warn the Rebel Alliance about Section 31." "Right. Say, while you're doing that, how about I do something about our little buddies that you ran into on Tatooine." "You wanna get Jones and his pet Skunk Boy? Whatever floats your boat Spyda." Dark Awakening, part 4 Back on Tatooine, two men wondered the streets trying to find Freemen. Despite the fact that he'd been gone for over twelve hours. "Jones, we're not going to find him here. Trust me man, he's long gone." "I just have one of those feelings. You know what I mean don't you?" "Your feelings are preventing us from finding Freemen. He'd be insane to come back here!" "He'll be here." "No he wont. The Storm Troopers are looking all over for him. He's not coming back." "I'm checking out this ally." "Shit." Jones's partner reluctantly follows him down yet another dusty back ally of the spaceport. "Well what do ya' know? He's not here." "You know something. You're very negative you know that." "Realistic is more. . ." The scream of a blaster bolt is heard as Jones's partner collapses to the ground. Blood oozed from the wound in his back. Jones instinctively ducked into a closed doorway. He drew his disrupter and held it in both hands. "That you Freemen?" "Guess again numbnuts. . ." Two more blasts thundered into the masonry that made up the doorway. Jones thumped the door control and the door slid open. He quickly scrambled inside while the alien residents looked at him as if wondering what the hell he was doing. "How many bars are on this damn rock?" He pointed his blaster at the crowd and opened fire, killing several bystanders. The creatures, in a mass panic, scrambled for the door. Jones kicked over one of the tables and hid behind it. The man responsible for killing his partner entered the room. Jones briefly rose above his cover and opened fire. The man dived behind another table. "Spyda? Hey, long time no see!" "Far too long. I should have killed you a long time ago." "Sorry to disappoint you but you wont be killing me now either!" Jones fired more shots at the group of tables in the corner. Spyda fired back, splintering some of the furniture near Jones. The smell of blasted alien flesh and burnt masonry, filled the room. "We shall see." Jones and Spyda continued to exchange blasts. Smoke began to rise. Spyda leapt out from his hiding place and fired a barrage of blasts at Jones. Jones made himself as small a target as numerous blasts burst through the table. "Ahhh!" A single blast penetrated Jones's leg. Spyda took cover behind what appeared to be some kind of alien music player. "Of course Jones, you always did have the option of coming quietly." "Well you can just bite me!" "I don't want any communications going in or at of that building!" "Yes sir!" "Command, this is lieutenant Hit-man. I've located two of the suspects and are proceeding with extraction." The lieutenant listened while command sent him his orders ". . .understood, Hit-man out. Troopers! Let's go!" Jones and Spyda continued to trade blasts. Just as Jones was picking up the courage to fire his next shot the main door slide open and six troopers entered the room. "Drop your weapons and come out with your hands up!" "Oh who invited you?" Jones asked rhetorically. Jones swung around and fired his weapon, killing two of the troopers. They fired back, blasting away at the masonry just shy of their target. Spyda was in an awkward position, he had an open shot to both Jones and the remaining troopers, however if he fired at one the other would surely kill him. He decided to wait a few moments and let them fight it out. Jones was meeting with some success. He managed to kill another trooper from under their constant firing. Spyda saw his chance, while Jones was preoccupied under the firing he took aim and killed two more troopers. The last one backed of and took cover. A few seconds later he emerged holding a very large weapon. He pulled back on the trigger and sprayed the entire room, from left to right with blaster fire. Spyda hugged the floor as the blasts passed about two millimeters over his head. He felt the back of his head to find that some of his hair had been singed a little. That was a little TOO close, he thought to himself. "My legs! You bastard! I'll kill you!" Jones screamed in pain. The blasts from the last storm trooper penetrated his legs with a force that tore away most of the flesh and caused the blood to spray up into Jones's face. Jones started firing in random directions. Disrupter bolts tore through the badly wrecked room. Anything that wasn't already broken soon became that way. By this time it looked less like a bar and more like a war zone. Jones pulled the trigger time and time again and the blasts poured out. He continued to pull on the trigger but eventually the blasts stopped coming. "No. . .come on you piece of shit!" Blood filled the space where Jones sat. His legs were completely useless now. The Storm Trooper walked calmly over the Jones and stood over him, with his blaster pointed at his head. Jones's body was almost completely soaked in his own blood. "You're under arrest. Now we can do this the easy way or the. . ." The trooper was cut short as a blast ripped through Jones's head, splattering his brains against the wall. The trooper turned around just in time to see Spyda fleeing into the ally. The trooper ran after him. He grabbed his com link and began shouting into it. "This is Hit-man! He's heading for the main street! Get him!" Hit-man chased Spyda through the ally, Jones's blood was dripping from his white body armor. Spyda ducked around the corner as Hit-man fired a barrage of blasts from his Eweb. Hit-man ran to the corner. A mass of alien creatures occupied the street, carrying on with their business as if nothing had happened. Spyda was no-where to be seen. "Damnit!" Meanwhile back on Furinax. Freemen was getting ready to leave for the rebel outpost. He was in the storage room when a man walked up to him. "Hey Freemen. Remember me?" "Yeah, I remember you. Paul Cassidy right?" "Yeah. You know, when you disappeared, we all thought you'd been killed." "Strange that they didn't now that you mention it." "Anyway, how's the rest of your memory?" "I don't have total recall yet. It's coming back to me though. You know, it's funny some of the things you remember." Freemen turned to one side, leaving Cassidy to respond to his remark. "Like what?" "Well, you know. . .it's quite funny really. . ." "What is?" "The more I think about it. . .oh you're going to love this, this is really quite hilarious." Freemen smiles. "What?" Cassidy smiles back. Just then the door busts open and a squad of Imperial storm troopers storm in. "Imperials!" Cassidy reaches for his weapon when he notices the blaster pointed at his head. "Well, I'm not really on your side after all."
